Woof, off to a very underwhelming start. Almost everything about this issue, from the writing to the art to the layouts and contents of the frame, just feel like a big step backward from the quality and density of the original.

Granted, this issue is all about setup, but it's clearly missing the original's ability to tell engrossing character-based stories while simultaneously and surreptitiously laying the foundation for later issues. This, by contrast, just feels thin and blunt, and lacking any of the qualities that made the characters and world of the original feel so human.

Hopefully the quality picks up quickly, or the payoff is worth the clunky setup. As of now I'm largely giving up on the idea that it might be a worthy sequel, and hust hoping for it to be a worthwhile read. But hey, I'd be thrilled to be wrong.

Not bad however I don't remember much about Watchmen (read it 8-9 years ago) so I think I may have to read that graphic novel again. I like how they are branching and adding other DC characters though.

I was told by the comic shop employee that the series is late when releasing titles so I may hold off on reading this until it is complete.

A promising start to Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's (perhaps overly) ambitious endeavor to weave a story about Watchmen AND the main DC Universe. It was obviously a setup issue, but I can't help to enjoy and savor every panel (almost all constructed with 9-panel-per-page structure like Moore's Watchmen) because of Frank's beautiful artwork. Even with the similar structure, the art managed to stand on its own with the help of the coloring work, which has similar color pallette with Watchmen, but also has some differences, showing the progression of that world.

The setup nature of the issue made me think that it was kinda bland in some parts, but Johns's plot revealed so many interesting facts about the Watchmen world and characters several years after Dr. Manhattan's departure from Earth.

The characters felt fine, I didn't notice anything special, but nothing seemed out-of-character either.

Overall, a slow-burner that kept me interested the whole way, and yet also made me kinda upset that I'd have to wait for a year before reading the entire story. Also, good luck to Geoff Johns, I have a feeling this series will end up very controversial.

I've waited more than 2 years for this series to finish so that I could start it. Thank god the last issue was released exactly 1 month ago.

I have to say it is a very good start. I am glad we get to see Rorschach and Ozymandias this early on. Also, Mime seems to be a very interesting character as well. I will definitely read it more as the comic really has a mysterious tone that makes you want to read more.

The story continues 7 years after the Watchmen event, Ozymandias is the most wanted man in the world, the war has begun.
There's also a new Rorschach, he is looking for two new watchmen, also, he is linked with ******.

Their mission is to find God, or maybe the thing will be even worse.

In this issue we see the first crossover with the DCU.

Horrible idea, great execution. Skipping the rest of the series.

This is phenomenal

I mean, I loved Watchmen and I sure as hell adore anything related to Batman. So this combination between my favorite DC heroes made me a squealing mess.

And I didn't just love it because it has the Watchmen AND Superman and Batman. I loved it because it's so well done!
The story follows the end of Watchmen perfectly, the outcome of what happened at the end and the consequences of the decisions made then make perfect sense.
I also love the art because it sticks to Watchmen's style; beautiful, sharp, well detailed and brutal at the same time.

I can't wait to read the next ones, when Batman finally joins the story!
