This book is so cute! I actually teared up on some parts cuz will they break up??? or will they stay together?? Kept me wondering until the end. So so cute.

I loved the ending! I think it's perfect and it really shows realistically what happens in real life so it was great!

Clare and Aidan are about to leave for college on separate sides of the country. They're packed, they're prepared, and all that's left to do on this last night before they leave is to decide if they should break up or try long distance. Set over the last twelve hours before they leave, Clare and Aidan retrace the steps of their relationship in hopes that an answer will come to them. The closer it gets to morning, the closer they are to goodbye.

I absolutely love Jennifer E Smith's books so I was really excited for a new one to come out. Out of all the ones I've read by her, this one turned out to be my favourite. There was something very relatable about these characters and their situation.

The book was broken up into different section using the stops Clare and Aidan made along their journey, each place having some sort of meaning to them and their relationship. I liked both Clare and Aidan as characters and it was sad since they really did seem to fit well together but following their dreams to the school they wanted meant being apart, either breaking up or long distance. Clare was very level-headed and logical, making lists and seeing the pros versus the cons of the situation. Aidan was more go-with-the-flow, why not try it type of person. I liked that I could see both their points of the argument and that they both had moments of doubt no matter which way they were leaning.

As much as I enjoyed the bittersweet journey from Clare and Aidan, my favourite thing about the book, what really rang true for me, was the excitement and the fear of growing up and taking that next step into adulthood. The pain of leaving people you've been friends with for years, of knowing that you can talk on the phone or video chat every day but it won't be the same as having them next door. The anguish of feeling like you're being left behind because everyone else is leaving.

This book was a quick read, under 275 pages, and there were moments of laughter, moments of tears, moments that make you want to hug your friends because they're awesome. It was about saying goodbye but also about taking that next step after high school. It was definitely a book I related to and I hope others will as well.

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review in any way.

I read this book pretty quickly in less than a week considering I had some big old assignments to complete in that time! I really enjoy books that focus on university/college and the whole coming of age theme. Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between definitely fit the bill. While Clare and Aidan weren't at college during the novel, they're both on their way there the following morning, and are figuring out what to do with their relationship.

Clare is pretty dead set on breaking up with Aidan before moving away to college, and I completely understand why she wouldn't a long distance relationship, I'm not sure I'd cope with long distance myself! As a last goodbye Clare creates a list of places and things they need to see and do before the night ends. Honestly, at first I wasn't that attached to either of the characters, Clare kind of bugged me a little to begin with, which is not something you want from a main character.

As I continued reading I warmed to Clare, and to Aidan, so much so that I was a bit of an emotional mess at some parts of the book. I've always been the kind of person who becomes emotionally attached to books and has the tendency to cry if a book warrants that kind of reaction, but I think being in a relationship myself, and being able to empathise with Clare and Aidan's emotions caused a lot of emotions of my own!

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I was pretty happy with how the book ended, I definitely felt that as a reader I got closure, which I think is important! Also, I was pretty happy with how everything turned out, because I completely understood Clare's reasoning behind wanting to break up, and Adian's for staying together.

Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between is a book that would be perfect to read during summer! While it's fun and enjoyable, it also explores the transition and move to college, which I'm sure lots of people would be able to relate to!

I enjoyed this one because of how easily I could relate to it. I'm actually married to my high school sweetheart. We dated in high school, went to different colleges but stayed together, and got married right after graduation. But so much of that summer before leaving for school was hard. And I could relate to almost everything Clare was feeling. But I will also admit that I can easily see why people don't love this book. Because nothing happens. The whole book is spent deciding whether they're going to stay together and how they're going to say goodbye and how much they love each other but they're going away and on and on and on. Seriously, if I didn't have these experiences and could relate to it so well, I would not have liked it nearly as much as I did. So I think if you're going to pick it up, just be prepared for a book with not much action and a lot of talking.

Also, if you've read this and liked it, I definitely think you should check out The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi. Or even if you didn't like this one but want something with a similar set up and seeing a relationship from the past and present, I think that one was done really well.

The whole are they/are they not breaking up thing throughout the book was annoying. At least the ending was hopeful...

Liked: the one night remembering of their relationship, the ending
Didn't like: the angst of making their decision.

Well beyond what I could have ever expected from an author I’ve never read before, the young adult/romance genre and the synopsis. Thank you.

2.5 ⭐. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I didn't get any feelings with this book. Was it beautifully written? Yes, but it didn't make me fall in love with the charachters.

Just too unnecessarily dramatic for my tastes. The characters weren't even all that captivating. It's a decent story and all, but not worth reading again.
