It was a kind of good and light read, but that's it.

I wanted to read this before seeing the movie. I really liked it. I think Smith did a good job of creating a real/believable connection/bond between the characters. I had lots of strong, emotional responses. I will definitely be recommending this one to my students this year.

Started and finished 'Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between' by Jennifer E. Smith today, and it was really cute.

Definitely one of the most fast-paced and cute books I've ever read, a perfect book for the mood I'm in right now. After reading two books that were only okay, one of them even a tiny bit bad, I really needed something I could telt on. And this was definitely the book. It wasn't one of those book where you really have to think about what's happening, and the plot is easy to follow, just plain enjoyable.

I really loved Clare and Aiden as a couple, and what I really liked about this book was how it didn't evolve around finding love but about how to live with it and maybe even finishing it instead. It was fun to read about their past and to connect past and present. It gave the characters so much, and I really felt like I knew them, when I finished the book.
And that's actually the case with all of the characters in the book, and I really, really liked Scotty! Felt so bad for him being left behind, but he was so cool about it.

So yeah, enjoyed the book very much, but one thing annoyed the hell out of me - the third person narrator!!! Seriously, hated it! And it's written in present tense which only makes it even more annoying. It's my first book by Jennifer E. Smith and I don't know If it's the case with all her books, but def. wasn't a fan of the writing..

But well, the writing didn't fully spoil the story, so I guess I can live with it ;-) Still recommending If you need a Quick, cute read!

Not my most favorite book by Jennifer E. Smith, but I still loved it. A story of finding your own path, the question of to stay together or break up, and the little things in a relationship and in a person that make up something bigger. A wonderful read. I recommend it to anyone who likes realistic fiction and wants a pick me up or semi-lighthearted novel.

I’ve seen people reading this book for years and every single one enjoyed it and so did I.

I can totally imagine Clare and Aidan coming to life with their story turned into a movie. This would definitely be one of those movies that will be a hit for it’s simple yet emotional romance.

I love how maturely Clare and Aidan handle their last moments of being together and the ending was very very beautiful and touching. Growing apart from someone you knew for a very long time is very scary and to let go of the person you love is hard but if they’re the one for you, they will always come back to you no matter what challenges the universe decide to hit upon you.

Jennifer E. Smith’s newest book is a cute story set over the course of twelve hours as Clare and Aidan decide whether or not they are going to end their two year relationship before leaving for different colleges the next day. Their final evening together includes Clare’s list of landmarks – places special to their relationship. Laughter, tears, and new memories with close friends are all part of final countdown before Clare and Aidan come to their decision.

Fans of Jennifer Smith’s previous books will certainly enjoy this, especially if they loved The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight since both stories take place of a very brief period of time. The writing is strong and flows nicely, and it’s an incredibly quick read (I read it in two sittings).

Clare’s need to have a black-and-white answer before she packs up her car the following morning is a bit maddening, and she may frustrate some readers who are hoping she learns to relinquish some of her need to constantly plan her entire life. She is certainly the exact opposite to Aidan’s roll-with-the-punches personality. Some may wonder why they are even together to begin with, but they clearly balance each other out.

While I enjoyed the book and found it a cute and sweet contemporary YA story, I was wanting a bit more from it – but, I can’t pinpoint exactly what it was missing for me. I feel like Clare’s stubbornness made it difficult to connect with her, while I connected much better with Aidan and his notion that the hardest things are the most worth doing. It’s no surprise that he wants to try their hand at staying together while at different ends of the country. In the end, I just feel like there was a lot of drama over something that could have easily been resolved in other ways at other times.

Having said that, I did really enjoy the final pages and where it left off at the end. The entire book had a cinematic feel to it in how it read with the various snapshots of their shared history together. Fans of Jennifer Smith, Sarah Dessen, and Jenny Han will certainly enjoy this cute and fast read.

3 STARS: Recommended for grades 8 and up. Recommended for YA collections where contemporary romance is popular.

slow-paced

I didn’t enjoy this book at all. The whole storyline was not interesting and the characters flat. It felt like manufactured teenage drama the whole way through.

That being said, perhaps if I were a teen it would have felt more compelling. I don’t know. I do know I have read two other, more recent books by this author and LOVED them both.  So this won’t stop me from reading more by her.

At the beginning I didn't like the characters and thought they weren't fleshed out enough. By the end I was rooting for them. This book allowed me to give a clear reason to why I never stop reading a book. You never know when a book will give you something you desperately need, even if it is just a line or two.
