Page turner from start to finish. One of the only books that has made me feel quite queasy with such graphic descriptions.

The ending didn’t live up to the rest of the book in my opinion. Noah is conveniently found and brought home just as Beatrice has solved the mystery of the girls disappearances. I was entertained by the story, but definitely not a favorite book of mine.

This is the second instalment in the Beatrice Scarlet series and I hope it isn’t the last. It is truly gripping and definitely not for the faint of heart. There were A LOT of rape scenes which were disturbing and hard to read but you cannot help but carry on just to find out what happens. Definitely one of my top 10 books

Still trying to get over the death of her husband, Beatrice Scarlet suffers another lose and moves back to London to take up work in a home for fallen girls. She quickly fits into helping poor unfortunate girls of 18th century London better themselves and not need to be the prostitutes they once were. Things seem to good to be true and they aren't. Evil things are happening and she soon finds herself confronting the devil, or at least a man dressed as Satan. She has to fight for her life and that of her daughter.

An enjoyable story in the end but this is a slow burning story and needs a bit of perseverance.

This was a great read, thrilling and dark with a great mystery at the centre of it and a main character you were routing to succeed. I think I'd say I enjoyed this plot more than the first book and I hope there are more to come in this series.

This book mainly revolves around the rich getting want they want and exploiting the desperate under the guise of helping them better themselves.
This was certainly interesting but I found that at times that it focused more on the various ailments the girls had, their periods and prostitution rather than the storyline itself and whilst I understand that this is part of the story it went into way too much detail at times.
A warning for rape scenes definitely needs to be highlighted as this was not made apparent in the description.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

When I first saw this cover I was sold, it has that mysterious creepy vibe, and it seemed like something I’d enjoy, then I read the synopsis and said “sign me in”. I don’t know where it fell down hill for me.

I was hoping for some witchcraft that did not happen, for the blurb or even the name, because when I first heard “The Coven” I immediately thought of witches, so for that reason it can be considered misleading. However it’s not a bad book, I honestly think a lot of people will enjoy it, if they don’t go in expecting the same things I did.

This book takes place in the 18th century, New Hampshire, where Beatrice Scarlettis mourning the disappearance of her son, at this time she finds out she’s going to loose her house, so she’s forced to accept this job in a institution . Then one group of girls disappear. It’s a nice mystery that will keep you guessing what happened to those girls. The writing was good, and easy to get into.

Personally the downfall for this book was the misleading synopsis and my association of the tittle to the actual synopsis and hoping for something that wasn’t given.
