3.5 for the nostalgia. Super cheesy, and outdated, but I didn’t mind it. Best book ever written? No. But it was a nice distraction and helped me get out of my slump.

I really liked Sunny & the growth we saw from her as a character. If I had liked more than 1 other character, it would've been 5 stars but every other character drove me mad. I also appreciated the nods to Buffy, having grown up with it.

“You know, being bitten by a vampire one week before prom really sucks.
No pun intended.”

Okay, so the beginning of this book was actually really boring. I didn't really care about what happened to anyone really. But then towards the end this book actually became really interesting and I couldn't put it down. I'm not saying that I loved any character from this book yet because I honestly have no idea how I feel after I read this book. Just know that I didn't like it and then it somehow got better and made me think this book was kind of "meh."

I really hope the next book is better.

Boys That Bite is the first in the Blood Coven Vampire Novel series and although it is written for a younger crowd I love it.

This book follows Sunny and Rayne who happen to be twins (their parents were hippies). Rayne begs her sister to come with her to a club where she is supposed to be bitten and turned into a vampire but instead the vampire mistakes her twin sister Sunny as his mate. Sunny not wanting to be a vampire goes on a mission with hot vampire Magnus to stop the transformation all while trying not to fall in love with the vampire.

This was a quick read and highly recommend for anyone who is just getting into vampire fantasy.

First in Mari Mancusi's Blood Coven Vampire series, twins Sunshine and Rayne (cute, no?) couldn't be more opposites. Sunshine is the drama student that wants to date the most popular boy in school, whereas Rayne is into the goth scene and won't be caught dead in a pair of pants! Rayne is all excited about a new goth club in town, Club Fang, and tells Sunshine she has to go with her and also must dress accordingly. After a bit of a guilt trip, Sunshine caves in and dons a “Bite Me” T-Shirt from her sister, figuring at least it's not black, and goes with her to the club. Once at the club, Rayne temporarily leaves Sunshine to play the role of “wallflower” while she grabs them a couple of drinks. In her absence, Sunshine is approached by an Orlando Bloom look-alike that she figures can't possibly be talking to her. She is flabbergasted, but it's so loud in the club that she can't tell what he is trying to say to her. He leads her outside of the club in order for them to be able to hear each other. She is highly attracted to him and once they introduce each other (himself as Magnus) he then asks her “are you sure?” as he leans closer. She assumes he is asking whether she wants him to kiss her and says “yes” which he does, but next thing she knows, he bites her neck! Her sister comes running out a minute later and sees what has happened and realizes that there was a case of mistaken identity. She knows who this Magnus guy is, he's a... vampire! And not only that, but... he was supposed to have been there that night to change HER into a vampire. Now what will Sunshine do?

I have to say that this has to be one of the funniest teen books I have read in a long time! It had some Buffy the Vampire Slayer references mixed within that slayed me!!! (full pun intended!) Mancusi used numerous pop-culture references throughout the book that made the book even more humorous, especially the inclusion of using Stewie from Family Guy as one particular vampire within the book. I won't say which one because I don't want to give too much away, but you'll realize why it's so funny once you read it! I like how Mancusi kept up the suspense throughout the entire book. I wasn't sure until the very end how things were going to turn out for Sunshine. This is a very strong first book and I'm glad that she has several more to follow it up as I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series! Highly Recommended.

Sunny’s sister has convinced her to join her at a goth club little did Sunny know that the guy flirting with her really was a vampire. Or that his bite would start the transformation into becoming a vampire was meant for her sister. Not only does Sunny have to worry about becoming a but there is also a vampire slayer out there who could be after her. At least Bertha the slayer has seen better days so she should be able to avoid her.

The only chance to change Sunny back into a human is to drink from the holy grail which happens to be in England. While Sunny may not be on the up when it comes to vampire her twin sister is having a blog all about it. At school at last Sunny has drawn the attention her long time crush he even asks her to prom. Now I only they can find the cup and get back to town before Prom.

I like Sunny a lot while more than I do her twin sister, but maybe that’s because her sister doesn’t have a big role in this book. I like that even though Sunny is tossed into the supernatural world she handles it well accepting her fate and dashing off with a strange vampire to stop the transition. I like Magnus when we learned the truth behind how long he’s waited for a blood mate my heart went out to him. I also like the way things worked out for both of them.

I’ve had Boys that Bite on my kindle for so long I forgot that it was even on it. I’ve been craving a YA vampire novel so I decided to give it a shot and wasn’t disappointed. While the vampire concept isn’t original the author has added her own unique spin creating a captivating paranormal romance. I really loved the characters I found Sunny easy to connect with after all she’s just like I was back in the day as a teen. This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author so I knew I would love her writing style which I did. I love all the pop culture references scattered throughout the book. A fast paced action packed whirlwind adventure that I found hard to put down. I enjoyed every moment of Boys that Bite it’s a beautifully written story. I look forward to reading the rest of the series the next one is on my kindle.
