I wasn't very sure how to feel about this book, but for the most part, it satisfied me. However, for a noticeable quantity of the book, it just bored me and I didn't pay any attention, but I got more into it later on in the book.

The large thing I don't like is how the author introduces the main problem listed in the blurb near the end. It barely lasts for even three chapters.

However, Elaine is very sweet and is always thinking about others. This book isn't an absolute favorite, but I'd recommend it.

A rather atmospheric and beautiful book, held back by the very dated 2006 YA view of Not Like Other Girls, and the protagonist's thought process just being romance and nothing else from ~10% to 60 or 70%.

Also the main character passes out at a crucial point and gets exposition dumped on how Arthur won the battle near the end. That's it.

Beautifully and lyrically written. The only thing was that the book wasn’t very eventful whatsoever. One might even say a bit pointless. But I didn’t mind, because I was so drawn in by the poetic format. I loved the Arthurian legend topic and I would suggest this to anyone who loves modern poetry and who isn’t too concerned with the mechanics of what makes a “well-written book.” I do point out that some verses are not as rhythmic as they could be but I enjoyed this very much.

Interesting Historical Fiction read for pre-teens and teens. Set up like Ellen Hopkins books, in a poetry style. Unfortunately, it is not very exciting.

I first read this book as a tween and it sparked within me a love for Arthurian mythology that hasn’t faded. I saw it on my shelf and thought it would be a good “quickie” read and since I hadn’t read it in 15+ years I was intrigued to go back in time.

I finished the book in legitimately two hours. It is a quick “quickie”. I loved reading about Arthur and Lancelot and Guinevere. One of my FAVORITE poems is “The Lady of Shalott” (insert shameless plug for Anne of Green Gables boat scene

An absolutely amazing take on King Arthurs beginning as King and also having such strong female characters. As someone who has always loved myths and legands, I can happily say that this is now one of my favorite books! It took less than 12 hours to read!
