There are some really useful insights, especially on VR and AR. It’s also interesting to see what kind of speculative interfaces the film industry has come up with, but I don’t know if they can really be applied as the book tries to argue.

It would be easy for a book like this to quickly become dated, calling as it does on whatever was current technology at the time of writing. I actually found it did very well at covering the general principles with call outs to relevant discoveries and contemporary media but without feeling like it had already fallen behind.
The only thing that lets it down for me is the small print, and something about the layout makes it hard to know whether you've hit the end of a section or not.

I love science fiction. The endless possibilities to stretch the human imagination and make unrealistic very much real (Even if it's just on screen)
Being from non designer background, I found that the language was easy to follow. Also loved few samples where they have shown how they have been able to make things similar to what was done on the science fiction series or movie.
What it lacks us that at some places it get to bland. Too many things are presented but not much depth. So right now after reading this, there are lots of designer concepts floating in my mind but no real information about them.
It’s a decent read.

Hoe meer ik nadenk over ‘Make It So‘ hoe enthousiaster ik word.

Great idea, but is (sadly) outdated. Got about 1/2 way over the span of months -- and got bored... Too much Star Trek, not enough semi-recent films.

I wrote it. So I think it’s pretty…uh…great?

I was reading this for school, but my research direction has changed. I might come back to this one at a later date.

I enjoyed this, because combining two topics of interest to me (science fiction and user interface design) could hardly fail to entertain. However, I'd hoped I would actually learn a few things, or maybe at least be able to recommend this as a textbook, and I just didn't find that kind of substance.

Basically, I'd just say that if you are interested in both of these topics, you will probably be entertained as I was. That's about it.
