TW: Blood & Gore

Thank you NetGally and Vault Comics for letting me review this book .

.

Stupid of me to think that this isn't horror skjfksjfsjf (didn't read the synopsis when I requested this one on NetGally).

Anyway, this wass definitely good in my opinion. It was very compelling and engrossing to me. The story telling was really good. I didn't expect the events to turned out like that.

I liked how the story kept the bizarre feels, from the start up to the very end of it. As for the ending, I just thougt it was a little bit rushed for my liking. I would have liked it to be more longer and much more detailed in graphic.

Overall, this was a good read. Highly recommend this for Halloween reads.

I don't even remember why I took this from the library, but anyway. Here we are.

I really liked the style, I seem to like a lot of roughed-drawn graphic novels recently!

The story.. I guess it was interesting, although not particularly original. It reminded me of that orchard episode from SPN, plus Family Tree by Jeff Lemire and Diary by Chuck Palahniuk. If you read this and know these three stories let me know if you agree with me!

I liked our main character's relationship with her daughter, and how she tries her best to be a good mother. You can definitely feel a sense of impending doom looming over them, although it failed to build up enough suspense to be really spooky for some reason. I cannot pinpoint why, I was just not scared. Although I liked the little twist at the end.

Three stars and half.

The Autumnal is an old fashion fairy tale retelling. It does what it sets out to do. Nothing more yet nothing less. Nicest thing to read on a rainy day.

all 2.5 stars go to the stunning art, which is definitely a 5/5. the plot, however, really went downhill once the mystery was introduced. past the point of being intriguing, it was  not great for me.

Revolves around problem between mother and daughter; Kat with her daughter came to to an eerie town to see her dead mother that abandoned her since she was young. While the art is enticing enough, I found that the story predictable and quite boring.

I was really expecting to love this but it was only okay. I couldn't seem to like the main character, and the characters took way too long to come to the main plot developments - 'twist' seems too strong a term.

If it had been illustrated by Tyler Crook then I think it would have been visually stunning, but even with the beautiful red leaves everywhere the art was still... only okay.
