I enjoyed this book, especially the way the plot unfolded to discover how the characters were connected. It was a bit confusing, at first, to keep all the characters straight.
I was interested in the book until the part about Teo being Dev's father popped up. It was already pretty unbelievable that Cornelia would marry her sister's husband and everyone would just magically be ok with that (not to mention that this part of their past was not brought up at all in this book), but to make Teo, Mr. Perfect, into a medical-student-that-somehow-got-a-one-time-fling-pregnant is extremely hard to believe.
slow-paced
This was a beautiful story about community by a very capable writer. I grew so attached to these characters, that not only did I not want the story to end, I became a little more sympathetic to the suburbs. (9/10)
I really like her writing style. It can flow over the top periodically, but usually, for me, its right at the edge between good narrative and poetry-which I enjoy. It does my favorite thing that writing can do - it illuminates those experiences we have but don't often put words to - but in an accessible way. In some ways, not putting words to them is the beauty of it. But, indulging in a well-written descriptive is enjoyable from time to time. Her characters were likable and she fleshed them out well. I'm looking forward to reading her bestseller - Love Walked In - I'm noticing some of my goodreads pals gave that one a better rating than this one.
I really enjoyed this book. Her characters are so easy to like and the story is such a great one.
This follow up to Love Walked In is so beautiful. Marisa’s writing is rich and full and descriptive. I feel like I really know these characters and want to be friends with Cornelia and marry Teo! Reserving the 3rd book in the series now ... picking up ten or so years later! Read this (after Love Walked In), you won’t regret it!
Loved it. Brilliant character development. The messiness of life, the tragedies and the love. Have loved all her books thus far
Easy, readable, but not memorable. I'd probably rate it 2 1/2 stars if that were allowed.
I liked it. But I find this really weird:
