For the genre, this was actually quite good. My mistake for thinking I had selected something different.
I so love the way Marisa de los Santos writes!! She definitely has a style that is all her own!!! I highly enjoyed this book, but there were a few points that were a little too sappy for me.
All the way through this I couldn't figure out why we weren't given more details about Cornelia's past. It turns out that's because it's the subject of another book, so if you're like me and compulsively follow order, start there. It was good alone though.
A great follow-up to "Love Walked In"... your favorite characters plus new ones to fall in love with! I just love De Los Santos's style of writing, it sucks me right in and I want to be friends with her characters. :)
Three different narrators/connecting stories but one of them skips major events. She is frustrating.
I enjoyed the descriptive way the author writes and how the stories become connected.
Did contain occasional profanity.

Maybe more like a 3.5. Interesting story, but the last few chapters dragged for me.
Loved this book (obviously). The characters were wonderful and complex, especially Cornelia. She was so witty and funny! Just a great read.
2/18/24 - pausing this book as I just noticed that it's #2 in a series.
now listening to #1: Love Walked In- on Spotify (not available in my Libby app)..
2/29/24. Enjoyed! beautiful (and fun!) writing..
follow up to #1 only because some characters ongoing and nice to know their beginnings!
