An entertaining YA mystery. It's somewhat uneven, deep at times, barely skimming the surface of its characters at others. After quite a bit of build-up, the ending felt rushed, but I was engaged enough that I stayed up till after 2am to see how everything turned out. If you're a follower of true crime, this would likely put you in mind of The Watcher (New Jersey). Not a bad way to pre-game for Halloween. Fun fact: the coffee shop named in Creep, "Slave to the Grind," is an actual place. Haven't been there in ages but seem to recall their brownies being excellent.

I really love this story. It was an interesting idea but it wasn't very well written. There also was a great twist at the end.

I was fairly excited for this book. A mystery about highschoolers that isn't about a dead best friend? Possible spooky house lore? Intrigue about a broken family's mysterious past? That sounds rad!

But as I kept reading, waiting for more hints to drop and pieces to come together, I slowly had to accept that they weren't coming. Only about one-third of the chapters included any clues at all and very few of the clues were actually important. Instead of house lore, we got a boring "twist" that lead to a climax that could have been very scary but had zero energy. We could have had some dark family secrets, but instead we got some stupid story that tried to make us sympathize with the love interest. Speaking of, why is there a love interest? Why?

Whatever. This book had a nice plot idea, a bad way of executing that plot idea, and a just-okay everything else.

This book was very disappointing. I received this arc in an unplugged book mystery box. I was really excited going into it because I'm a big fan of thrillers. I found this book was very misleading from the description. It was not creepy at all and the history isn't known until the last 30 or so pages. I would not recommend this book if you are an experienced mystery/thriller reader.

Kept me guessing the whole time, but there were parts that were pretty far-fetched, even for a YA mystery. Ultimately a fun easy read.

DNF @ 6%... I'm sorry. I had high hopes for this one but the main character was way too shallow and kind of air headed for my liking.
