I'm pretty sure I've actually read this before, but it was a while ago. I still love the idea, and I LOVED Libby's boldness. She is hilarious.
FUCK THAT WAS SO CUTE! I'M SQUEELING AND HUGGING MY EREADER AND JUST *insert big goofy grin*
2022 update. I have enjoyed this book all 3 times I have read it, so I am tempted to upgrade by rating to 4*, but the flaws of this book keep dragging down the rating.
Avery is a wonderful character and the main reason I keep coming back and rereading this story. I wish her the best life, and therein is the problem. The book's ending leaves me more sad than hopeful every time.
Grady is not a very promising relationship partner. He is a typical too-charming-for-his-own-good teenager, used to objectifying and disrespecting girls. And while he tones it down around Avery and is young enough to still be able to make drastic lifelong changes to his character, I don't get the impression that he fully understand the errors of his ways to even want to change: he is too sure of the superiority of his lifestyle, too dismissive towards Avery's friends and too condoning towards his best friend's disgusting behavior. That never really changed over the course of the book.
The fact that Grady will be the relationship baseline for Avery's future is not a good omen. My only hope is that she will find someone better and truly right for her once she goes to college and her world broadens.

Oh my goodness, this was so, so GOOD. I was really surprised. It was sweet and hilarious -- total pop-sugar confectionary heaven.
It was like Dumped By Popular Demand (one of my favourite books when I was a kid) amped up and older. I have such a soft spot for nerdy business.
Oram's voice is a little young. But it's all in good fun, and built up some adorable moments. Each one was a zany romp, and looking back, I wish I could live out Avery's life. Yeah, it was pretty shallow and surface-level at times, but the whole story was so cute that I forgave it. You need a fun, light-hearted read every now and then.
Avery was so innocent and clueless that it was almost maddening, but it made Grayson's perspective all that much better since we got to see him pull strings from the outside. Perhaps it was all a little easy and far-fetched, but if anyone is ever in need of a cheery pick-me-up, this adorable story is a winner.

I received a copy of that book through goodreads first-reads giveaway.
'The Avery Shaw Experiment' is a sweet young adult book about being best friends, being in love, having your heart broken and finding happiness again.
A nerd girl and a jock boy can be good together, you know?
I loved Grayson. I thought he was a great character, determined, kind and exactly what Avery needed. Without him she would not learn to experience life and just simply allow herself to let go and just enjoy living. He was the one who made that book interesting for me.
If you like sweet stories about young love, this book is definitely worth a read.

Super cute and fun read :) I LOVE Grayson and Aves. It's a good palette cleanser after reading heavier material!
