A great little tie in story about how animals deal with hurricanes. Great for kids to see that perspective. Also, I like that it's poetry.

Okay, I know this takes place in Louisiana, but as a person born and raised in Florida, I loved this book and would recommend this to everyone in a hurricane area. As a teacher, I would recommend this to anyone that covers hurricane's in their curriculum. The illustrations are incredible and had the feeling of a hurricane. The additional information about the animals from the book at the end after the author's note, is great and can aid additional discussions with your kids or students. This has to be one of my favorite ARC books!

Beautiful, watercolor like illustrations with a story of animals preparing for a hurricane in the marshes of southern Louisiana. I love the rhyming aspect, because the story feels more lyrical. This book is fun and can help teach children about nature. I obtained it as a baby gift for a friend, but I couldn’t help reading first. Glad I did. Likely, this book could make for a great bedtime story.

A wonderful poetry book that describes a habitat often glazed over in school. The art in the book is wonderful and captures the chaotic frenzy of a hurricane wonderfully well.

Caroline Starr Rose's rhyming text match up beautifully with Rob Dunlavey's gorgeous illustrations. Rose also includes information about Louisiana's wetlands in the author notes as well as additional information about the animals in the book.

I like the pace of this book - slow and steady, then it whips into a frenzy while the hurricane roars, dropping back off to peaceful, quiet beauty once the storm passes. People may not always fare well during a hurricane, but animals and nature know how to care for themselves.
