Super cute and feel-good. A fifth grade girl deals with feeling alone and left-out among her friends, but finds the inspiration to really be herself while helping to support all of her friends.

Personal Notes: I'm pretty sure this would resonate with all houses to a degree, but mostly with Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors.

This was a nicely done middle grade graphic novel about finding your niche and dealing with the strangeness that happens on the cusp of adolescence. The art is colorful and engaging, and the message it conveys about learning that others should be free to pursue their own interests without being beholden to their friends was nicely done. I also liked that the book hinted at the adult sisters having a complex and sometimes contentious back story. All in all, though, I read Camp, the author's second book first, and enjoyed that one more as I found the plot a little more complex. Still, this author is a welcome entry on the middle grade graphic novel stage (which boasts some seriously high-quality writing and art), and I am definitely interested in reading more from her.

I read this after Camp. I'm surprised that Olive and her best friend aren't shown as being closer

My second Olive graphic novel and as expected I loved this one tons! Because no annoying as hell Willow, she only pops up a few bits here and there but blissfully not much. In this one a play and Olive is unsure about the clicks she has with friends when they all make groups and no one asks her. But she will find something she loves and I was delighted to see her find something. I loved her aunt, she was amazing. The mom.. Mm at times I liked her but I did thinks she should have more faith in her girl and also stop trying to butt in. Olive is a big girl. The small drama when Olive finds her thing had me rolling my eyes. The art was amazing. All in all a fun and great graphic novel.

This book was wonderful. So many children don't have that group of friends that they belong in and having a story that says it is ok to be your own person and not be in one specific group, but a friend to all. It really made my heart warm and it was a great read.
