This book was wonderful. So many children don't have that group of friends that they belong in and having a story that says it is ok to be your own person and not be in one specific group, but a friend to all. It really made my heart warm and it was a great read.

ok, this one hit.

One of the major themes here was very important to me and close to my heart. It's easy to feel isolated and secondary when you drift between several groups of friends, but it's so important to remember that it is a two-way street.

Also, I really love how the two major ideas of finding what to do at the talent show, and not fitting in with just one group came together for the act Olive chose to put on.

Thanks to HMH for the physical ARC of this new middle graphic novel! This is guaranteed to be read like hotcakes as a realistic fiction graphic with bright attractive illustrations a la Raina Telgemeier. Olive's class is preparing for the 5th grade variety show... but all of her friends have grouped off for their acts without her. With the help of a hip librarian Aunt, Olive finds her stride and chooses a role that suits her perfectly... it just clicks! Great general purchase.
