I loved this book. It's presented very differently from most other books in this genre, and it looks like there may be much more to learn about the background and history of how this alternate world came to be.

The main characters were all very interesting and distinctive. I loved Kali and how interesting her "abilities" were. I loved Skylar especially, and all her brothers and her description of them. I really liked the concept of a Nibbler that made Kali who she was, and others of her kind. I'm really hoping for a sequel because I would love to find out more about that world, about the other preternatural creatures, and definitely how the Nibbler thing works.

If you are looking for a book with a kickass heroine and fabulous plot then Every Other Day is for you.
I was completely blown away by the superb writing, wonderful characters and a plot that would mess you up for good in a good way.
It was totally-out-of-this-world fantastic.
Ms. Jennifer Lynn Barnes, this book is astounding!
This book is definitely worth rereading twice, trice or even a hundred times.
It may sound exaggerated but hey I really liked it so sue me. :D

Kali seemed normal at first sight but she was not.
One day she was as normal as you and me and the next day she was fearless hunter who kills hellhounds, zombies and all kinds of monsters that we thought only exist in our imagination.
The problem started when she saw one of the cheerleaders at school, Bethany had an ouroboro on her lower back which meant that she was infected by a deadly parasite that would eventually kill her.
Despite being in human form Kali felt it was her responsibility to save this girl.
Now it was up to Kail, Bethany and Skylar (the school slut who was also Kali’s only friend, sort of) to discover the conspiracy behind what was happening.

Seriously, this book was like a drug. It was addicting and intoxicating.
It was super fast paced which in my opinion suited the story.
There was action, action, action!
There wasn’t only action but also some romance in it.
Yep, you got it. It has a bit of romance too which added a bit of flavor to the already good mixture of the book.
Ms. Barnes you are a genius.

I loved Kali. Well, a girl who kicks hellhound’s butt is definitely worthy of my adoration. Seriously, she rocks. Of course there were times that she had the “I am alone” drama but still I loved her. She was one character I would definitely not be forgetting anytime soon.

It wasn’t only Kali I liked though. Skylar and Bethany were great secondary characters. Skylar would have to be one of my favorites. She was a little weird but that’s what I loved about her. She was outspoken and carefree. Bethany on the other hand was your typical b*tch cheerleader but made a 180 degrees as the story progresses. You’ll learn to love her too.

Then there was Zev… Sigh…Yeah he was a little creepy but it worked with all the craziness of this book. CRAP! Now I have to be unfaithful to my other book boyfriends.

I would have to say that this is also one of my almost five stars books for the year. Still haven’t given a five for any book yet. I give this book a 4.75! Why? Because I had a little problem with the pace of the book it was a little too fast paced for me. I usually prefer slower paced books and it’s a surprised I liked this book given it’s very very fast pace. I don’t think this book would have a sequel but I really hope it does. I wouldn’t mind reading more about Kali, Zev and the whole bunch.

My almost 5. 4.74!

To be completely honest, I had zero expectations for this book. In fact, I always thought the cover was kind of odd because it has a fairly normal title with a not-so-normal picture. With so many of these books, I request them because they sound good but by the time I get around to reading them, I've forgotten what the premise is. I've found this is actually to my advantage because I'm often pleasantly surprised. This book was no exception. It was a really fun ride.

I've been approaching books a little differently lately since I've been writing my own and I'm realizing that the things I'm starting to find enjoyable are actually parts of writing. So the first thing I loved about this book was the characterization and the voice. Barnes did SO well here. Kali is a well developed character with A LOT of voice. She's sassy and badass yet still vulnerable to the feelings we all feel. ALL of the secondary characters are awesome too. Skylar and Bethany especially. I love the play on stereotypes. Skylar is a self-proclaimed "slut" (although she's not) and uses this to her advantage as a power tool. Bethany is the popular cheerleader...but underneath that exterior she's witty, caring and smart. Now the world building was CRAZY amazing in this book. At first, I thought this was going to be just another vampire/supernatural book but it was SO much more. There were all kind of crazy creatures and supernaturals powers involved. It's hard in a supernatural world, to make the unbelievable, believable... but Barnes did exactly that. Not only was the characterization and voice done well but the writing is just fantastic. It was a fast read with a great premise. It almost reads like there could be a sequel but I'm not sure if that will happen.

Overall, this book was a great read and I highly recommend it for YA readers. It was full of suspense, action and kick-assery. (Yes, I did just make up that word I think!) Go get yourself a copy!

**I received this book free from the publisher through www.netgalley.com. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I have read Raised by Wolves and Trial By Fire, both by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, so when I saw Every Other Day come up on Netgalley I knew I had to read it.

From the start of Every Other Day you are thrown straight into the action as we see Kali kill preternatural creatures, and follow her as she makes friends (a first) and does what she can to protect them. Her path to friendship is a rocky one though, and although you can see she doesn't want to make friends, she is eventually drawn into a group of misfits who welcome her like she is one of them.

I really enjoyed reading Every Other Day, although it isn't like Jennifer's other books I have read, it was a refreshing change to see how she writes about different characters and roles.
Every Other Day is defiantly a page turner, the suspense kept me wanting to turn the page to see what happens next to Kali and how she is going to act to the different situations she is put into. I was surprised with how the story panned out, and didn't expect things to take place, or for people to be "found".

Every Other Day had me laughing and crying and I did not expect it to end the way it did. If you are a fan of Jennifer Lynn Barnes then you should defiantly check this book out, if your not, then you don't know what your missing.

I loved the characters in this book, and the plot. I saw a few things coming, but for the most part the twists in the story were a surprise. I think the only thing I didn't completely love was the ending. I like to know exactly what happens at the end, but this was a bit open ended - even though I did feel like everything that really mattered was resolved.

Overall it was a great book, almost perfect, and definitely a new favorite.

I have not one, NOT ONE, not a single fucking one, bad thing to say about this book. I loved it cover to cover, every line, all of it, I loved it. I loved it. I am gutted beyond belief that this isn't a series because if it were, I would do nothing but read it for the rest of my life.

Perfection. PERFECTION. I don't want it to be over. My life is meaningless now. Go on without me.

Intriguing concept - having supernatural powers every-other-day... And not being able to do much when human and you see a supernatural threat.

Kali's a normal teenage girl--every other day.  On the days she's not, she's a hardcore, nearly immortal being who hunts supernatural dangers like zombies, dragons, and other beasts. Kali doesn't quite know just what she is, but she knows that she can expect to only be human half of the time. When the popular ice queen at school is infected by a chupacabra, normally a death sentence, Kali takes it upon herself to save her. This action sets off a series of events that will show that there's much more going on in Kali's town than anybody knows. Somebody is creating worse supernatural beings, and Kali and her new found friends need to put an end to it.

Every Other Day was crazy fun from the very beginning. At first I was skeptical about Kali's alternating days of supernaturalism and normalcy, but once I bought into the concept, it made for a fast-paced, race against the clock read. Kali was a spunky, superheroine of a narrator, and since the book is written in the first-person with Kali as narrator, I loved being able to become her for at least a little while.

What I loved about this book is that it takes elements that are very familiar, like zombies, vampires, dragons, and mixes them up in a story that feels original and unpredictable. It made me feel completely comfortable in the world without being bored. I also loved how lighthearted this book is. It never felt bogged down or overly angsty, which resulted in a very joyful reading experience.

At times, Kali reminded me of Buffy Summers, with her cool attitude and fearlessness in fighting the forces of evil. I think fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will eat this book up. I also recommend this for anyone who loves action-paced paranormal YA fiction. Barnes has said that this is a stand-alone book, but it has potential for a series if she decides to take it in that direction.

Buffy on Steriods? I really can't decide. I didn't really like it, but that doesn't make it a bad book.
