Telling on myself by adding this edition to read, but the Takeuchi editions are a good size and value, with an updated translation and some interesting translator's notes.

FINALLY I get to read this series in its entirety! I had no idea that the 10 volumes of the Naoko Takeuchi collection had the *entire 5 arcs* of sailor moon but they do! If you’ve watched the anime at all you likely know all the stories in this first volume, but Takeuchi’s art style lends such a romanticism to Usagi and Mamoru’s scenes (and there’s so much sapphic admiration and flirting AH). There’s also some great translator notes at the back that explain things I didn’t even think to wonder about, like the Japanese idea of planet identities that include elemental characteristics that explain why Mercury has water powers and Jupiter of course has thunder powers but ALSO nature-based powers (because Jupiter’s element is wood)

Words cannot express how much I love Sailor Moon. The art in this version is so pretty and I can’t wait to read every volume.
