I've wanted to read Sailor Moon for years, and I'm so glad I did! Part of me thinks I ought to have read this before I fell in love with Tokyo Mew Mew as a twelve-year-old (because I was thinking, 'oh, just like in TMM!' even though SM came first), but this was such a fun read and I'm eager to get my hands on the next. Unabashed girl power, magical ladies, and beautiful art? Yes please!
(Although, as a newly-turned twenty-four-year-old, the explanations of video casettes and disks in the translation notes make me feel old!)

This was a fun walk down memory lane. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with the DIC dub of this anime that played on Toonami. Of course, the characters names were Serena, Amy, Rei, Lita and Mina. Tuxedo Mask was Darien and they changed his age to make him a college student for some baffling reason. Don't even get me started on the decision to change Haruka and Michiru to cousins and then still have them kiss in the movies

Love Sailor Moon as always. The reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is the translation. While there are some changes that are for the better and make the English a lot more natural and understandable, other changes aren't. For instance this new edition calls the Legendary Silver Crystal the "Mystical Silver Crystal". In the translation notes, it seems that legendary is a more accurate translation but they chose mystical anyway. I think the reason this bugs me so much is because the subtitles and the dub of the 90s anime both call it the Legendary Silver Crystal, and this anime has cemented everyone's love for Sailor Moon world wide. Another thing is I think a hardcover would've been worth it to preserve this beautiful new edition.
I've read these stories so many times. It's nice to revisit them again, 20 years later, and still get that wave of nostalgia and love.
Love this new eternal edition. Seeing the images so big and clear and the updated translation is nice. Same story of course, just a bit more updated and cleaner art and updated references. Definitely worth checking out.
