How'd I go so long without reading the original manga... it fills me with so much joy and weird gender affirmation, especially that one panel with Usagi in drag. Takeuchi's art is my favorite of any manga artist out there. What else can I say... it's Sailor Moon!!

The new 20th anniversary edition of the Sailormoon manga. This print is done on high quality, thick paper, different from the usual manga printing paper seen in Japan. As a result, the art itself is much cleaner; and as an added bonus, the book itself is about twice the size of a normal manga volume (the size of an American graphic novel) and has been re-edited by Naoko Takeuchi to bring out some of the minor details in the art that were previously unable to be seen because of the quality of the print.
Additionally, the cover has new art and is sparkly!
Each chapter also begins with a full color spread, which are gorgeous.
Even if you can't read Japanese, the book is such high quality that if you're nostalgic enough for Sailormoon I would recommend it--if you can read Japanese, however, or are learning, it's a great edition to read with because of just how clean the text is compared to a traditionally cheaper volume like the 2003 reprints.
Since this is the first volume, the story hasn't really gotten into the darker side of the manga yet, but it's still a good, light read! Nostalgia glasses on, this is a great edition that I will be collecting the hell out of.
