Here after the movie!

New appreciation for this story after watching the movie. In some ways the film is better at making Alita uncover her own past and destiny, but this manga crafts the antagonist as far more villainous. Looking forward to reading more.

'Battle Angel Alita, Volume 1: Rusty Angel' by Yukito Kishiro seems like a timely release with an upcoming movie coming out. It's also a really good read.

Daisuke Ido likes looking for cyborg parts in the junk heaps. When he finds the head of a cyborg, he rebuilds her into Alita. Alita has little memory of who she was before, but she knows she must fight. After a crushing defeat, she is rebuilt into an even fiercer weapon and goes out to get revenge on the scary Makaku.

It's definitely a classic series with a deep dystopian SF feel. The world is populated, but it seems as if most people have been turned into partial cyborgs.

The art is some of the best I've seen in manga and I loved the detail. Many of the chapters also included a few introductory color pages, and these were really well done. I'm glad I finally got to read a chapter in this classic series.

I received a review copy of this manga from Kodansha Comics and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this manga.

Alita battle angel since i saw the movie, i have been wanting to read this, because lets face it a second installment for the movie, is probably not happening for the next five years at least.
The art is spectacular! so much details which is really, a nice treat for most great mangas, they always have a whole lot of details.
Alita is just adorable i love her so much she is a babe.
what about the cute dog who takes away the baby to save him, i don't remember reading something with a cute doggie like this one before.
Daisuke is also a great character becoming a bounty hunter for the thrill, and also for the money to repair people who don't have money.
The villain was great, very resilient he kept on coming.
I have a problem with most manga action scenes, they are always somehow not really clear to me, but it wasn't that bad in this manga.
overall great experience i hope to read even more of this.

The. ART.

I'm so very, very new to manga and anime. I've seen the movie (I know). I am finally reading. I read this on my computer, which was nice, because I was able to ZOOM and MY GOD. I need this in my hands. The art is stunning. I've always been a texture person and the hatching and line work is just *chef's kiss*. There were a couple of panels I found striking, the ones where she's swinging through the air, somehow the movement shown has the wind whistling in my ears. Then there was a panel where she shakes out her wet hair, and my dog does the same thing and I had to laugh, it was so spot on and just funny.

This story is compelling and I can't wait to finish up the rest of it. It was a delight for the eyes.
