Oh my gosh. Was this the perfect historical romance? This just shot to the top. I was skeptical - I read reviews about unlikeable people doing unlikeable things - but i connected and I understood the characters and I loved it. Some tropes had me nervous - love triangle, namely - but the angst! David’s kindness and pining. Whew. I. Loved. It. Also I love the time period.

I can’t believe I have hated two Sherry Thomas books in a row. I can’t believe. But it’s the truth. What happened??!! I loved the first book. But the second two were disasters.

This was almost like a rerun of the second book. Unrequited love. Hastings panting after Helena while she was madly in love with another man. Instead of being a meek doormat like Millie, he was nasty and lewd. I do enjoy a cocky hero with a little ego who teased and taunted but…. Hastings took it too far. The way he behaved, how could he believe that Helena would fall for him?

Helena was another tool. For a sensible and independent woman, she fancied herself in love with a foolish man who was no match for her. She was reckless and selfish.

I didn’t like the amnesia part. I don’t see the purpose it fulfilled here. Only made the story more ridiculous.

The romance? Absolutely terrible. They literally had no chemistry. Hastings might have considered himself in love with her but I still did not see the genuine feelings from his side.

I’m disappointed. So disappointed. Because I love this author’s writing but her characters and lack of plot is saddening. My only hope remains for her Lady Sherlock series. Hope it doesn’t disappoint.

The perfect finish to this series without question.

Helena and Hastings have always hated each other. Or loved each other. Or loved to hate each other. Or something. But when Helena’s reputation is at stake (again) and Hastings is able to save it, he does what any man would do, and decides to wed her first and woo her later. One traumatic head injury with a side of memory loss, one charming but illegitimate child, and one pornographic story later, and what do we have? A happily ever after, of course.

I’m still on the fence about Hastings for ME but I am not on the fence about Hastings for Helena. This was a peculiarly but brilliantly plotted novel to give their fiery relationship the conclusion we all desperately needed. This series has been such an emotional journey for me and this was so darling I could hardly stand it. I thought I knew from the moment of the head injury how it would go, but Sherry always has the highest and best in mind.

Highly recommend this series if you’d like your heart ripped out (as we do) because it’s completely perfect in that way. Raw, sorrowful, and joyful in turns. I just loved it.

I liked this one the best out of the 3. Spicy scenes were more to my liking and it broke away from the formula of the other 2 books a little. Also really enjoyed Bea.

This book might be my favorite in the trilogy. I’ve always been sucker for bantering MCs, so I know that I will like this book no matter what.

I have to say this is not as intense as the Ravishing the Heiress, but it made me feel pain towards the end (just when I thought it all worked out) I couldn’t help my tears.

This one is not quite as good as Ravishing the Heiress, but I adored Hastings and his daughter, and I really enjoyed the way Thomas used Helena's amnesia to develop their relationship (
and make her realize she wasn't actually in love with Mr. Martin
).

Thomas's writing is so decadent and delicious. It is a pleasure to spend time in the world she's created, and I am definitely planning on reading more by her. These books have been slow burn, but when the couples do get around to having sex, it is WILDLY hot - truly scorching.
