Tempting the Bride by Sherry Thomas

2.0

I can’t believe I have hated two Sherry Thomas books in a row. I can’t believe. But it’s the truth. What happened??!! I loved the first book. But the second two were disasters.

This was almost like a rerun of the second book. Unrequited love. Hastings panting after Helena while she was madly in love with another man. Instead of being a meek doormat like Millie, he was nasty and lewd. I do enjoy a cocky hero with a little ego who teased and taunted but…. Hastings took it too far. The way he behaved, how could he believe that Helena would fall for him?

Helena was another tool. For a sensible and independent woman, she fancied herself in love with a foolish man who was no match for her. She was reckless and selfish.

I didn’t like the amnesia part. I don’t see the purpose it fulfilled here. Only made the story more ridiculous.

The romance? Absolutely terrible. They literally had no chemistry. Hastings might have considered himself in love with her but I still did not see the genuine feelings from his side.

I’m disappointed. So disappointed. Because I love this author’s writing but her characters and lack of plot is saddening. My only hope remains for her Lady Sherlock series. Hope it doesn’t disappoint.
