I think this one has been my favorite so far. Probably because the plot is finally picking up.

And, with this book, so much which was merely hinted at is revealed. While there are deeper secrets in the series, I like that Smith didn't hold out on the big one involving Thorn until the end. It allows for a deeper character arc, both for her and for Fone Bone, not to mention simple Grandma Ben.

And, then, in the village, we have...wow, a big source of my anger of the past week. Phone Bone convinces the villagers that not only are dragons real, but they're evil, and he is a certified dragon slayer. Given the importance of the dragons in this series, you can see that he's not going to be able to just spout off at the mouth forever, but that's for the next book to show.

Big confrontations and big secrets. Here is where Bone gets you hooked. I hope you have the rest of the series on hand.
