I think this one has been my favorite so far. Probably because the plot is finally picking up.

And, with this book, so much which was merely hinted at is revealed. While there are deeper secrets in the series, I like that Smith didn't hold out on the big one involving Thorn until the end. It allows for a deeper character arc, both for her and for Fone Bone, not to mention simple Grandma Ben.

And, then, in the village, we have...wow, a big source of my anger of the past week. Phone Bone convinces the villagers that not only are dragons real, but they're evil, and he is a certified dragon slayer. Given the importance of the dragons in this series, you can see that he's not going to be able to just spout off at the mouth forever, but that's for the next book to show.

Big confrontations and big secrets. Here is where Bone gets you hooked. I hope you have the rest of the series on hand.

I was excited when I saw that this one was thicker than the other two had been. Each book has such a sweet individual story line but finally we’re starting to piece together the bigger plot that’s happening. I’m honestly a little sad I didn’t read these for the first time when I was younger. I think I would have loved these as a kid even more than I do now. On to the next!

- I thought Smiley was a fun side character, but I didn't pay him much attention before. In this volume he cracked me up! Smiley is so hilarious!

- It rains for a lot of the story, and the lightning panels are so awesome! Well done!

- Will Phoney never learn? He just goes from one debacle to the next.

- The plot is thickening! I really liked how we learned more about Thorn and Gran'ma.

- The art style is really growing on me. I really like how the artist combined simple characters with a more complex world. The Bones should be out of place, but they aren't.

Nog altijd even vreemd, maar ook even spannend om te lezen. De details in zowel het tekenwerk als het verhaal zijn wonderbaarlijk.
