I didn't hate it. I actually really enjoyed the interview, but had to stop reading it because it started to spoil some of Hinton's books I haven't read yet. I will eventually finish reading the interview once finished with the rest of her work. As for "Some of Tim's Stories", it was a little difficult to follow, but eventually came together. If you're not a Hinton lover then you'll probably take nothing from this book, but I can see the deeper meaning she conveys and appreciate all of her stories. She makes me think and that's all I could ever ask for in literature.

The short stories themselves are absolute garbage (even weirdly transphobic for one of them) with a needlessly confusing frame narrative and incomplete ending. That being said, I quite enjoyed the interviews on the second half. They gave a pretty good behind-the-scene look into S.E. Hinton's oeuvre, including her biographical background and thought process behind each novel's formation. There's even a sense of poignant finality to them, as if this might just be the last book she'll ever write.

Big, big letdown. I saw this book that I had never heard of on a shelf at my library and when I saw it was an S.E. Hinton book, I had to read it. I love her work. I guess this is supposed to be a collection of short stories but it had the feel of chapters in an incomplete novel instead. The ending just left you hanging, like it just dropped off of a cliff and left me thinking what? That's it? And this Tim guy. I would've had no idea who he even was if it hadn't been for the S.E. Hinton interviews in the back of the book. Tim is never even mentioned in the stories. I think this could've been a great novel had she drawn it out more but as it stands, it's only a 2 star for me.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. It was fantasticly written, but much much too short. The ending really stuck with me (I may have tossed the book at the end) and I wanted more. That's why I didn't give this book more stars - I really thought the story was just getting somewhere when it ended so abruptly.
