This book was just not good. To be fair, I read this after seeing (and loving) the movie adaptation, and I was possibly judging it a little extra harshly for not being the movie, which is how my 1 1/2 stars rounded up to 2 instead of down to 1.

Aside from not being as great as the movie it inspired, this book still did not have a lot going for it. The story felt incredibly rushed, and none of the characters or plot points were well developed. I also found the art to be subpar, and rarely could I ever tell the male characters apart, especially after Eggsy suited up and suddenly aged about 20 years.

I expected some good things from this comic book after seeing the trailer for the film, with James Bond, but also other spy classics such as The Avengers, in mind. What I got was a chopped up story with little room for actual character development. Too bad.

I watched the film. I'm in love with the film. I thought I'd get something from the comic (already aware there were some major differences)......

I was wrong.
I gained nothing from this. I'd recommend reading it before seeing the film, as I might be blinded by my bias towards the dapper film spies.
It just seemed to lack depth. And kept doing weird things with British slang, bollocks.
I kind of hate the weird exaggerations you find in British comic characters. Either it's an American forcing as much lingo as they can, or, worse, someone who IS British and.... just.... wants to hurt us.

It mentioned my hometown, which was kind of fun. And references to real people could have been fun but sounded more like arse kissing.

This was a fun romp in the tradition of James Bond. I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was. Suave spies, secret agent gadgets, high stakes, beautiful women, and the end of the world - everything you need in one convenient package.

The artwork and a few sections of dialogue let me down. The artist neglected to draw backgrounds in several closeup frames, it didn't work well for me as dramatic effect. A few of the characters didn't feel memorable on the page. And at the end, lasers do not cause blood to spurt out - they cauterize the wound. Nitpicks aside, I recommend this to anyone who enjoys James Bond novels or films.

Very enjoyable. Not amazing and slightly predictable but good fun.

I'm a bit bias cause I love the movie but this was still fun.

Enjoyable, but the film's have a more fun tone to them which I wish the comic had as well.

Gelezen nadat ik de film heb gezien, en ik moet zeggen, ook in dit geval vind ik de film stukken beter.
