I do not know what it is but these books are always slow to start for me but I keep reading and then I am glad I do. This installment has Sadies son Sean home on break and he decides to stick by his mother as she investigates yet another murder. This time she is suspect and goes on the run with a man named Eric whom she meets while hiding from someone wanting to do her harm.

I now want to read the next book to see what happens with her and Pete, the detective and this new man Eric.

What a relief! I actually enjoyed this campy, fluffy mystery! I was afraid that I no longer enjoyed this little break from reality, but Josi Kilpack has restored my faith in my old favorite "fluff break!"

Sadie Hoffmiller is growing on me. For most of this book, I was really annoyed with her because she was meddling in things that weren't her business and her thought process with some events was elementary. But the last five chapters rocked. I thought of all the fifty-six year olds I know, and I don't know any who would think her way through an attack and be able to defend herself when the bad guy is trying to kill her. I'm also intrigued by the love triangle that is introduced in this volume. I skipped #2 English Trifle, and I don't regret it. Now onto Key Lime Pie!

This is the first culinary mystery series that I have ever read, and I must say that I love them! They are so much fun, and I just love the way Josi Kilpack writes.
Sadie is an exceptional character. You love her, root for her, and want to find out who the bad guy is as much as she does! A few times during the book I thought "No! Just go home and don't get yourself into trouble", but Sadie has to figure things out for herself. Especially when the police just won't listen.
In most books, I tend to figure out who the killer is, but in all three of the books in this series, I haven't figured it out once! I think I have it, and then the author puts a twist in that throws me for a loop!;) I'm excited for the next installment in this series. The characters have really grown on me, and I can't wait to see what situation Sadie gets into next! I'm also curious to see what happens in her love life...

This was such a great read. I loved how the mystery had me guessing. I had my guesses, but I didn't guess it correctly, I love being surprised! Great book! :)

- This was a fun and exciting mystery! This is probably my favorite so far. It was clever and thrilling to read.

- Another murder though? I'd like a different mystery. How about Sadie could visit a haunted house, catch a burglar, or anything else!

- Sadie is a bit of a busy body who thinks she can do a better job than the police. I get that she is curious, but she goes beyond that!

- I don't like that the police are pretty useless. I like to have a bit more faith in my police officers! They know how to do things!

- I liked the thrilling parts of the story where Sadie was running or fighting for her life! I couldn't read fast enough. I wanted to know what happened next! Some parts of the book are a little slow, but it makes up for it with the action!

- A lot happens in one night! Wow! I love that everything but the last couple chapters occur in one evening!

- I liked how the last book had Breanna in it, and this one had Shawn in it. I like getting to know Sadie's children, and I like seeing the relationship Sadie has with her children. It is nice.

- I liked the new character, Eric, a lot! He was right there when Sadie needed him, and he stuck by her for the rest of the crazy events! I would totally dump Pete for him! Women like men that they can count on and will back them up!

- These culinary mysteries make me hungry! I love that recipes are added in the book, and i really want to make everything! They sound SO yummy, and it makes me crave it! If there is one thing Kilpack can do, it is to work up an appetite in her readers!

- These are fun books, but I can see how I could get bored with them. For now, I'm still interested, so I'll continue to read.

This book was good. Took me a long time to read, but I loved the end. I'm not so sure I like that the books carry out the same way. I don't like that the endings are the same in each book, even if the story line is different. Good writing, clean and fun to read! Can't wait to read her next novel!

I sometimes wonder why I keep reading cozy mysteries like this one. I get so irritated at the amateur sleuth who rushes off into danger. But I did enjoy that this book seemed to zip right off to the ending, which I didn't really expect.
