A beautiful picture book about using art/drawing to overcome a language barrier.

Drawn Together is a story about a boy who visits his grandfather but is not able to understand and converse with him. This causes silence and frustration between the two. Then, the two start to draw and it is clear that this is the form of communication they had been looking for. Through art, they are able to communicate better than any words that could be said. This is an amazing book that made my heart happy. I would offer this in my library for students to read and possibly connect with. This would be a great book for a student that prefers to communicate through sketches or paintings.

WOW! What an incredible book! The illustrations meshed so well with the story you would think it was one author/illustrator.

This is a beautiful story that celebrates overcoming language barriers and learning from both elders and youth. Not only that, but how the combination of the two and their experiences helps the others to understand each other and create a new bond and friendship between the two. Both the grandfather and the young boy love to draw, though their styles vary greatly. But when put together, they create something totally new and totally inspiring in a way neither of them could have imagined. It's emotional, sweet, and overall a force to be reckoned with. Great for grades 1-3.
