Although I'm lucky enough to be friends with the author, this review is completely objective. I've read a few of her works now, and I'm not lying when I say that I'd read her grocery list and I'd still love it.

I'm not much of a fantasy reader, so loving this book this much took me by surprise. Cassia and Lucas are such loveable characters in their own right, and seeing their journeys was something magical. The story unfolded in such a lovely way and it kept me guessing, and wanting more. I completely devoured this book, so much so that I didn't put it down while reading it. To me, the true mark of a good book is its ability to keep you enthralled and this one did exactly that.

In addition to living Cassia and Lucas' friendship, I loved the found family they had there, the unexpected allies and the pure love we could see between multiple different characters. The twists and turns captivated me, especially when we get to the last few chapters of the book.

I'd recommend this to anyone who lives a good, interesting fantasy. You won't regret reading this!

I don't usually pick up fantasy books, but I'm glad I read this one!
Enjoyed the unique story, the plot, the characters and the descriptions. I could see this book becoming a movie. Can't wait for the next one!

*I was gifted an eARC of this book for an honest review*

I am blown away by this book!
Shameez describes this book as a soft fantasy, and I honestly love that. Because that is what this is! It's fantasy and magic all wrapped up in such a wonderful, heart-warming easy read that ties in with every day life.
The world building was done so well, it never once left me confused or wondering where we were or what on earth something is.

The MC, Cassia, is so genuine and her relationships with the other characters are very well written. Her love for her sister is unmistakable and from the very beginning you know she would go to the ends of the earth for her.

Found family, young love, friendship, magic, and a twist I didn't see coming.

Congratulations, Shameez, this is such a wonderful debut novel.

Magic and monsters and the chance of a miracle cure for her little sister. When Cassia finds herself dragged into a parallel realm against her will, her life is forever changed. As she becomes increasingly involved in events beyond her control, Cassia is confronted with a lot of secrets from the past and has to come to grips with a reality very different from the one she has always known.

I really enjoyed the world building and the general storyline as well as many of the side characters. I would love to see what happens to them as the series continues. Unfortunately the three main characters and the romance fell a little flat for me. It was (and this is my personal opinion) too much of the usual YA fantasy love triangle that everyone seems to be writing. It feels over used and I think that the three main characters had a lot more potential to be something new and fresh in this specific genre.

Favourite Quote: "Death is not defeat. Rest your soul, my dear friend, until death decideds when next we'll meet. "

Cassia awakes in a sweat, its Lucas. Visiting her in her dreams again, he had been missing for so long, yet lately hes been invading her dreams but shes never quite able to reach him. Her thoughts are interrupted by Calla, her little sister who is dying from an unknown disease with no reason or cure in sight.

The story paints a beautiful picture of the other realm and the characters between them with fantasy tropes littered throughout that ticks all the boxes.

As the story progresses, you find yourself needing to know what happens next all the time, with the end totally throwing me for such a loop that I am now eagerly awaiting to read the next installment of the trilogy, The Eternal Shadow.

Cassia is a young med student working at a hospital and also trying to figure out what is wrong with her sister Calla. After she gets visits from her best friend in her dreams, the son of a king snatches her away into a realm filled with magic, flesh eating monsters and an obnoxious royal family. Welcome to the Selene Realm. So many years has passed and she finally sees her best friend that she grew up with, but will she be able to find a cure for Calla in time before her last feather falls and what about those monsters?

When I say run I mean it @shameezwrites is a brilliant writer. My nerves were on end, this was your edge of the seat action packed read. I don't even think I breathed it is just that good.
