I received an ARC of Wedding Girl in exchange for an honest opinion.
I thoroughly enjoy reading Stacey Ballis' books, and Wedding Girl was no different!!!
I got completely drawn in to Sophie's life, from the minute she is left at the alter. I found myself cheering her on, hoping she could get over the disaster of what should have been her dream day, and then the crash and burn of her career.
The ending left me happy, although, a bit rushed. The characters in the book were great - I loved her grandma, Bubbles!
I would highly recommend reading Wedding Girl to any of my chick-lit loving friends!

Fun and cute take on You've Got Mail, which I have to admit is one of my favorite movies. Definitely will be reading more Stacey Ballis!

Doughs before hoes. This book was a goodreads win for me! It started off slow but I was captivated by the characters and although the romantic ending was predictable the over all story and dept of characters was heart warming. I LOVED that it was dedicated to her hubby and found that endearing. I love that recipes from the book are also included in the back of the book. really truly enjoyed Sophie's character, she was afraid but talented and she loved to eat and wasn't ashamed of her body or eating and i feel that was amazing that she didn't put herself down or dislike her body but embraced her love of food and the body that came with her passion. I enjoyed this book and plan to read more from Stacey in the future.

I’m going to skip the plot synopsis, since you can read that at the top of the page, and get right down to my review.
Fair warning: Do not read this book on an empty stomach, it will make you crave baked goods in a big way with its wonderful descriptions of scrumptious baked goodies. This book is quite yummy with all its descriptions of food, plus it has recipes too! I dislike using the “chick-lit” tag, but I’m going to use it anyway by stating that this book is the perfect “chick-lit” read. It’s fun and happy with the perfect amount of angst and silliness thrown in. The only down side for me is due to the “pug name gag” I found it to be a bit juvenile and annoying after a while. Other than that, it was a fun book to read and left me wanting to look up more of the authors titles.

This is my favorite book so far this Spring! I loved Sophie! The cast of characters were great, especially Bubbles, Sophie's 80 something grandmother, what a lively and fun lady, I would love to have a relative like Bubbles. Sophie's hippy parents were great as well, their support of Sophie's situation was so endearing to me. I would have to say that to me this book was more like the Judy Garland movie, In The Good Ole Summertime, which just happens to be one of my all time favorite movies, I am a big fan of old movies. I enjoyed the old-fashioned feel of this book, the neighborhood bakery that Sophie helps to bring back to life, the old Chicago neighborhood, I felt like I was there with Sophie, that's how good the description of the setting is. Herman, the bakery owner is another favorite of mine, what a sweetheart!

I enjoyed this book, however I felt it a bit slow at times. It was a cute story that I enjoyed, but found myself wishing it would speed up a little.

Stacey Ballis' books are sweet stories that will always make you hungry. I was prepared with a good hot chocolate but would have loved any of the sweets she mentioned in the book and definitely the wedding foods at the beginning. Jeese.
I think this author has also written a cookbook and I definitely need to look into that.
Anyway, the story was sweet but there was a bit of foreshadowing that kind of gave a spoiler pretty early in the story.
It's about having all of your plans for life change suddenly and drastically. Sophie loses her dreams of marrying her fiancée, of having an upscale restaurant and a beautiful home.
She winds up living with her grandmother and involved in two businesses she'd never have dreamed of.
One she realizes that she might not have it all figured out but that she is happy.

I really liked this book. It's not going to change the world but I thought the characters were engaging, the food descriptions made my mouth water and I wanted to keep reading until the book was done!
