I was a couple of chapters into this book when I realized that I was reading another version of You've Got Mail (one of my favorite movies). I must have missed or forgotten the tagline that reads " You've got Mail meets Julie & Julie in the new foodie fiction ...".

The story starts out with Sophie Bernstein a pastry chef that about to have her dream wedding with her dream guy and thus began the life of her dreams. It's all laid out perfectly for her until the groom leaves her on the day of the wedding (by eloping with someone else), $50,000 in debt (dream wedding's aren't cheap) and public humiliation as the news and pictures are plastered over the internet. From there Sophie begins a slow spiral downward until she loses her job, has to sell her condo and move in with her grandmother Bubbles (and overweight Pug Snatch).

As Sophie begins to pick up the pieces, she is hired by the neighborhood bakery and she reconnects with her passion of baking.

One of my favorite parts of the book is when Sophie breaks down and confesses she is scared to dream big as she had done that once before and it didn't work out. How honest and true that is for a lot of us.

I liked the descriptions of the food and while sometimes I admit I skimmed over the descriptions - I did love the scene regarding Milk Bread. I seriously was wanting to make some/have some made for me - right at that moment.

Yes- this book does mimic/follow the same path as You've Got Mail - so much so I was expecting Godfather quotes from Jake, I didn't mind at all.

This book was a fun quick read and I'll definitely add Stacey Ballis to my list of authors to check out.

I received this advanced reader copy from First To Read (Penguin Random House) for my unbiased reveiw.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I laughed out loud at times and smiled as I read at others. Sophie is a courageous and down to earth heroine. Her grandmother, Bubbles, is a hoot! I must admit, one of the first exchanges between Sophie and Bubbles reminded me of my grandmother, and how much I miss her. This book was enjoyable on so many levels: quirky but loving family, food (the recipes!), friendship, romance (in unexpected places), but the best part may be that the heroine is curvy - and embraces her curves!

This was my first book by Stacey Ballis, but certainly not my last.

I loved, loved, loved this book! I have heard a lot about Stacey Ballis and even follow her on Facebook but until receiving an early digital copy of Wedding Girl I hadn't read any of her books. I'm so glad I got the chance because I enjoyed every minute of it! It reminded me of the movie You've Got Mail, which I also love. Wedding Girl was a pure joy to read; I felt Sophie's pain, laughed out loud, and cheered when the book ended exactly as I had hoped it would. I am now off to recommend this one to all of my friends (and to get my hands on more Stacey Ballis books!).

*Thank you to First to Read for a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book. Was. So. Much. Fun. I'm so glad I read it! Thank you, Goodreads/Berkley Publishing House, for this advance copy... I loved it!!

There's so much more to this book that meets the eye. So much more than just Sophie left jilted at the altar. This book boasts a cast of colorful and quirky characters: Sophie's lesbian best friends; her (unmarried) parents; her grandma, Bubbles; Bubbles´ dog, Snatch; and a very mysterious stranger Sophie meets online.

You'll be drooling at the mouth with all the amazing food descriptions. Sophie is a rock star, both in the kitchen and out, and her life is only a little predictable. Read this for the fluffy, picture- perfect romantic ending!

I love Stacey Ballis, even if her stories are a little too neatly wrapped up sometimes. I loved the hilarious innuendos caused by Bubbles' unfortunately named dog.

Every other aspect of the story aside, this book made me hungry as fuck and I can't wait to try the recipes in the back.
