This was a cute romcom. faster paced then I generally like, but it is a staple of the genre, so doesn’t bother me that much. But I will say going from being enemies to wanting to get married within a week does stretch my ability to believe this quite a bit.

I really enjoyed Teddy and Romeo’s relationship. I like that the author didn’t get bogged down in them disliking each other and didn’t really have any miscommunications. They just needed time to get over preconceptions and they did that quickly (but maybe a little too quickly)

I gave three stars because some things, like the setup were just a little too contrived and I really couldn’t get behind the idea of a smart vase. And some of the tropes, like the “there was only one bed” felt a little unrealistic in this scenario.

All in all, I really enjoyed the idea of the book, but when all the parts were put together, it felt like the quintessential romcom, not bad but not great either.

Alright I'm DNF-ing this, because my library due date for it is in a few days and I just know I cannot force myself to listen to this book. I'm like 25% in and I could tell I wasn't jiving with it. Here's why:

The narrator is not working for me. This is big in audiobooks! The voices he does for the characters, especially Teddy, bug me.

Like I said, I'm 25% in and I don't feel like I know Teddy or Romeo. The book is single POV but all I know is Teddy and Romeo work at a tech flower vase company; Teddy doesn't like Romeo (but like, for no reason? Like, Romeo is nice and normal?); Romeo looks put together all the time; Teddy has an ex who dumped him. That's it!

What is the plot? WHERE is the plot?

Ugh.
The book amounted to:
No, I hate him!
Next day: Oooooh! I don't hate him; I want him! But NO, we can't be together! (What? Why?)
Next day: Let's get married! (WTF?!)

Too insta-love for me, and too much suspension of disbelief was needed for the plot. I still had a nice time for most of the book.

It was fine, but the story and writing just weren't doing it for me
