Chariots Of The Gods? Was God an Astronaut? by Erich von Däniken

This is probably the first and last book anyone ever needs to read about the ancient astronaut theory. It's a good exercise for skeptics in recognizing arguments from ignorance, certainly: Von Däniken seems utterly unconvinced that our ancestors could've been merely intelligent, but that they must have had help.

The appeal for more space research towards the end is actually quite compelling, but it's really odd coming after a couple hundred pages of "I don't know, therefore aliens."

Descent book. Alternate historical theories in ancient times. Some information is slightly obsolete now, and also debunked. However unexplained mysteries, ... are mysteries ! And anything could have been possible during ancient times !! Always good to hear new theories, whether proven or not. A good read for a clear and open mind. :)

As a budding archaeologist I found this book hilarious. 4 stars for being entertaining but I denied the 5th due to the content being absolute rubbish.

Unmitigated tosh from cover-to-cover. Admittedly, I was taken in at age 11, but how any adult could accept this tissue of lies is beyond me. Interesting, maybe, for its sci-fi concepts, but as one of the initiators of modern pseudo-science, an awful, awful book.
