Chariots of the Gods? Unsolved Mysteries of the Past by Erich von Däniken

2.0

This is probably the first and last book anyone ever needs to read about the ancient astronaut theory. It's a good exercise for skeptics in recognizing arguments from ignorance, certainly: Von Däniken seems utterly unconvinced that our ancestors could've been merely intelligent, but that they must have had help.

The appeal for more space research towards the end is actually quite compelling, but it's really odd coming after a couple hundred pages of "I don't know, therefore aliens."
