This book definitely doesn't deserve the bad hype that it gets. At first it is a bit hard to push through and becomes pretty confusing, but after a while it becomes intriguing. Whilst there were some bland bits the overall plot is very interesting and I can't wait to see where the second book takes it. A little more character development could be used, but I'm sure the characters will continue to grow in the next books.

I DNF’d not because it was bad, it just wasn’t good enough to buy that rest. I’m right on money and if I’m going to buy book I need to really want them. So kind of just went “we’ll, why finish it”

Fun book, well written. While there were elements that were kindof predictable, there are still several aspects that were left mysterious and unresolved. Enjoyable YA novel - on to the next one :)

Wow. Wowowowowow.

So dated! I had fun laughing at it, not with it. But i can enjoy a love triangle no matter how it’s written. I do really like the angel lore and biblical aspect, but a lot of lulls with not much going on. And the way every character but one that died is part of the angels? Where are the normal people?

Sooo much thrown in at the end and unexplained, which I suppose makes you want to read the next book but explanations then a good plot cliffhanger would’ve been better. I do want to know about their past,  not sure I can bring myself to buy in though when I have a proper TBR.

Team Cam 🤘🖤😔

Bratz Readathon 2020

Honestly I didn't have high expectations for this when I picked it up (I mean how could when every review I see is scathing), but alas, I was still curious about why this series was so popular, and I needed to read a book about angels for my readathon. The first half actually wasn't too bad, surprisingly enough. Very cliched? Yes. Annoying main character? Wouldn't be a 2000s YA paranormal romance otherwise. Insta love? *siiigh* ...Definitely. Yet I was still intrigued by the mystery of it all, like what are with these creepy shadows, and what's the story behind Daniel and Cam. I also appreciated the eerie atmosphere the author managed to imbue into most of the scenes. But I just couldn't help the unrelenting boredom I felt while reading this, especially during the second half. Not to mention how extremely cringey the lines everyone kept spouting were. It took me way longer than it should've to finish this, to the point that I fell a little behind on my reading schedule, which just makes me dislike this book even more. I might give the movie a watch, if only just to see if it's anywhere near as bad as the book.

It was interesting but repetitive! I was done halfway through the book as it was the same thing. She thinks she has a connection to Daniel, Daniel brushed her off, and again she feels a connection with Daniel and... I tried to love the story but it was ok.
