Bratz Readathon 2020

Honestly I didn't have high expectations for this when I picked it up (I mean how could when every review I see is scathing), but alas, I was still curious about why this series was so popular, and I needed to read a book about angels for my readathon. The first half actually wasn't too bad, surprisingly enough. Very cliched? Yes. Annoying main character? Wouldn't be a 2000s YA paranormal romance otherwise. Insta love? *siiigh* ...Definitely. Yet I was still intrigued by the mystery of it all, like what are with these creepy shadows, and what's the story behind Daniel and Cam. I also appreciated the eerie atmosphere the author managed to imbue into most of the scenes. But I just couldn't help the unrelenting boredom I felt while reading this, especially during the second half. Not to mention how extremely cringey the lines everyone kept spouting were. It took me way longer than it should've to finish this, to the point that I fell a little behind on my reading schedule, which just makes me dislike this book even more. I might give the movie a watch, if only just to see if it's anywhere near as bad as the book.
