Down the Rabbit Hole, book 2.

If you liked the first book in this middle grade series, you’ll enjoy Ingrid’s next adventure.

One word to describe this book: Predictable.
I guessed what was going on about 1/10 of the way through the book, and spent the rest of it trying to be engaged. Thankfully, the performance of the reader in the audio book I was listening to was enough to make it interesting, plus I wanted to finish it for a summer reading group.
Ingrid is stupid when she needs to be and smart when she needs to be. This annoyed me.
I thought listening to this book was fun. I kept coming back for more, though this had a lot to do with the format.

Love a good mystery and am enjoying this girl's series set in Echo Falls. Ingrid is an amusing and likeable main character, teamed with a variety of personalities. Good premise to this story, liked the misdirection and mistaken identity. But I did find it slightly longer than it needed to be, I enjoy mysteries to be quick paced, and there was one scent that didn't sit well with me (the protagonist is being pursued on foot by a potential killer and when she trips and finds a letter she stops to read it, while the killer is still hot on her heals?). Other than that it was a great book. Girls between 10-13 love reading mysteries and this is a good addition to their collection.

I read the first book in grade seven and i thought it was genius. Now i'm not too sure. there were quite a few spelling mistakes, silly mistakes like spelling the characters names wrong and sentences that made you read the passage over and over again to try to understand it. In terms of the story, the ending was apparent was obvious in the first 10 chapters, and the amount things Ingrid stupidly overlooked made it seem impossible that she had even read Sherlock Holmes. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're in 7th grade or younger and haven't read mysteries.

Perhaps not even 3 stars. When I went to log this, I was going to talk about how I had recently (March) read another of this series, yet when I started reading this one, I had to go look at the description of the other to make sure it was the same people. That's how unmemorable the characters are.

Well, it gets worse. I actually read this one in 2009. Not a single bit of it rang a bell as I was reading.

Final peave, at one point the father says "Damn those children" in reference to his own children. Not acceptable.
