I decided to reread this book that I hadn't read since high school. I honestly can't believe I read this at such a young age, because some of the subject material is so far beyond its years. I still enjoyed it and see the meaning in it that I'm sure I saw then, as it was one of my favorite books. A sad but good read still all these years later.

I guess I had high expectations for this book, which is why it was not such a great read.

okay so at first i didn't really like this book. i made the mistake of reading a couple of reviews and most of these were negative, which kind of gave me a negative mindset before even starting. I am also quite peculiar with writing styles and i had to get used to the one used in this story. i do appreciate that, although it's in a letter format, it doesn't do huge time skips and it does tell almost everything that happens.
in the beginning, i also thought it was a bit boring, coming of age books often come across to me as such (im sorry i know they're classics i just Need things to happen), but i was surprised when things started to go off the rails before part one was even over.
what surprised me even more, was the ending and the way this was handled. im not going to spoil it, but the build-up was steady and it truly made a lot of sense regarding some other things mentioned in the story and it progressively gets more detailed and we as the reader get to know more and more about everything and and.
all in all, i still don't really know what i think about the book. the depth of it (if im allowed to call it that) surprised me and i wasn't truly prepared to deal with that, which explains my lack of actual coherent thoughts right now.
personally, i would recommend this book! the writing style might take some time to get used to, and the storyline might seem a bit wonky and weird at times, but it's still a nice book to read and to spend some time thinking about it.
