This was a great read to learn more about what the victims and survivors during the Holocaust endured. Rena Finder is one among many of the brave survivors who shares her story to fight anti-Semitism. It’s a cry to tell people to help others when you see its needed. “You don’t have to love everyone, but everyone deserves to be treated fairly.”

The third book I read when I went down the rabbit hole of reading middle grade books on stories of survival during the holocaust. This one was equally interesting as it tells the story of an 11 year old girl who survives Auschwitz and the holocaust because of Oskar Schindler. A short read, with historical facts mixed in with Rena’s story.

Read this book with my 10-year-old son. It brought forth many questions and meaningful conversations. I highly recommend it.

The way this book is written is perfect for a young reader who wants to learn from a survivor of the Holocaust. Rena Finder tells her story in enough detail to help us learn and understand the horror of that time in history without adding too much detail to scare young readers. I love that the premise of this book is to share her story and help to ensure that we do not forget what happened. There were so many lives lost and Ms. Finder tells her story so we can remember and never let it happen again. Learning more about Mr. and Mrs. Schindler was eye-opening and amazing. They were incredibly brave, loving, and strong people.
