A great children’s book about how to be a friend during all circumstances. It shows the connection between anger and sadness in an understandable way.

Marlo and Coco are best friends that do everything together. One day Marlo asked to be left alone and Coco is worried about him.
This is a picture book about navigating big emotions. It could also be used for grief, or discussing the importance of needing space or setting personal boundaries.
Nicely illustrated. The emotions are represented in black increasingly larger scribbles and upon looking at it, I believe it adequately expresses those tough, sometimes all-consuming emotions.

Picture book. Marlo and Coco are best friends, always playing together. But when day, Marlo snaps at Coco and seems to get lost in his anger. Coco diligently tries to find her friend, and eventually finds out that he is actually sad because his beloved dog died. So she puts her arms around him and they cry together.  A deceptively simple story about getting overwhelmed by emotions and how friends can be a help in finding your way back to a better emotional state.  Also could lead to discussions of how emotions are so tightly connected, like Marlo showing anger when the root feeling was really sadness.
