Safe to say, this book changed my life. I took my time reading this book so I could fully engage with it and apply it’s genius in my current friendships. This is a book I will forever reference to the people I work with and in my relationships. Dr. Franco, you are incredible!

I frequently see lamentations from others on social media that they wish they had a close circle of friends, that they don't know how to make friends in adulthood, and I feel those lamentations in my soul. Making friends was so much easier when we were younger (although for some of us it was still tough), but as an adult, particularly one who has moved to a new city and lacks any of those 'well, we grew up together' connections, it can feel impossible.
This book was a goldmine of information in understanding how we make, and keep, friends. (Granted one of the most difficult aspects for those of us who are introverts is still the MEETING of people with whom we'd like to be friends.) It was helpful to identify our friendship personality (Hi, I'm anxious/avoidant). Having identified that, the book walks us through the many ways we either sabotage or build connection. I found it extremely helpful not only for identifying the things I've done wrong, but also understanding why there have been friendships that didn't feel quite 'right' and helping me to understand that it's okay to decide whether or not to continue to invest.
Honestly, I would put this book on a list of books that would be fantastic to give to new adults.

There's a point where the author starts talking to the audience as if one were not smart enough to understand certain concepts and it can get reiterative
