A must buy. You'll want to take notes and reread entire chapters. Anyone who has ever wondered how to deepen any relationship will gain something from Franco's work.
There's so much learning and insight to be taken away from this book. I loved the sections on expressing vulnerability, dealing with conflict and showing affection and generosity in friendships. I liked the combination of research and real life stories and Dr Franco's way of communicating everything in a really easy to read way. I think everyone would benefit from reading this.

I didn't care for this book, but only because I expected something a more academic and it felt very self-help-y, and I didn't feel like I learned anything new. It's well written and researched and I feel like I need to spell this out because one of the reviews up right now is a super racist critique mad that a black author mentioned racial dynamics in friendship and in the world generally. That is appropriate, on topic for what she's writing about, and shouldn't be an issue for any reader who doesn't have a huge axe to grind about any acknowledgment that racism exists in the world.
More of a 4.5 but I enjoyed that it was practical but based in research.

Great book, I learned a lot. I didn't know I needed a book to teach me that it's fine that I struggle to take compliments because that's not my preferred form of affection. I'll probably still work on it but it's useful to know.
Safe to say, this book changed my life. I took my time reading this book so I could fully engage with it and apply it’s genius in my current friendships. This is a book I will forever reference to the people I work with and in my relationships. Dr. Franco, you are incredible!
