Cowboys and Dragons

I liked what little bits of the world we saw. I’m still not sure how witches work. Aside from that, I liked both characters. It touched on sensitive topics in a way that wasn’t preachy but fit into the characters and story. The story takes place over just a few weeks so I wasn’t buying the declarations of devotion but can definitely see it getting there.

Promising. I liked the world-building and that the author didn't hand-wave away colonialism and the e  indigenous people (looking at you, Wrede). I'm 50/50 on the climax of the story, but it was well-executed.

Ok to be gay and racist

This was a badly written story with many mistakes throughout. I felt like I was reading a fill-in-the-blank gay romance, following a formula. Not sure about other books in the series but this one has put me off them for a while.

Some interesting world building. A little suspense. Pretty low stakes, quickly resolved tension. I could try more by this author.

I enjoyed this overall, but it moved pretty quickly because of the length. I really came here to point out some hilarious typos. Please hire a copy editor.
(1) Main Character A spends time picking out the perfect name for his horse, Persephone. She's referred to as "Penelope" once lmao

(2) "later" instead of "lather" when shaving

(3) Main Character B's name is spelled wrong: "Marcuse" instead of "Marcus"

(4) "...sent a shiver down Will's pine..." I don't think Silver was actually referring to trees.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I picked it up with the rest of the series. This is the third book I've read of this shared universe and each has been a great read.
I started this adventure with a sense of unease but once the two leads met I was pulled along with the story and the whirlwind interracial romance.
Great. I'd love to catch up with these guys in 15 years.
And I'd also like to check up on Jimmy, Will's brother.

My first book from Elizabeth Silver and I enjoyed it, although it did seem to end a but abruptly.

It worked well as the opening of this interlinked shared world series though an I liked the Old West mixed with magic vibes of its setting.

I also liked that it was an interracial romance that didn't mince words on how difficult it would be in this alternate universe which still had a feel of New Mexico in the 1800s.
