ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the linguistics used in children's books based on the fictitious character Junie B. Jones, which is written by Barbara Park. The author says that, even though allegations are made on improper usage of the English language in the series, a deep insight into it presents a reverse fact. She says that the language used in the series follows rules and reflects social power. She performs an English rules analysis to show that the language used in it is in agreement with the English linguistics. She says that language is constantly changing and needs to be learned at special times in special ways.

Was there not a single after-school activity happening in this elementary school that would have noticed the loose kindergartener?

I laughed so hard at Park's ability to capture the mind of a young child. But I also know that the Junie B. Jones series has been criticized for such strong language such as "hate", "stupid", and "dumb". Personally, I cringed a bit because my children haven't gotten to that stage yet. Introducing that kind of stuff early isn't necessarily what I want. However, I don't care to keep stuff from my children that they wouldn't get by spending any amount of time in any public space so... I might wait a bit to dip more into this series (with my children anyway).
I absolutely love the Junie B. Jones series! I own every single one of the books. This book series was a large part of my childhood. Each book discusses real life issues for students. This book, the first in the series, is about Junie's first day of kindergarten. She is afraid, of a lot of things, including taking the bus, which is a feeling a lot of students can relate to. Junie B jones will definitely be in my classroom to aid the students with their learning and so they can experience what she does.
