these books were my personality when i was 5

This book was always one of my favorites growing up, not because I related to Junie B. Jones, but because I was the exact opposite. Junie B. Jones is a loud, obnoxious, and mischievous young girl. While I enjoyed this series as a child, I do not enjoy them now. Her behavior and attitude is something that I find myself cringing at and disagreeing with. While she is a five-year-old and might not know any better, most five-year-old’s have common sense when it comes to being polite and interacting with peers and elders. This is a skill that Junie B. Jones does not possess and because of that, I struggle with the decision of whether or not I should put this book on the shelf of my classroom. Just because kids read about something does not mean they will behave that way, but you can never be too careful. This is an internal debate I will continue to think about but for now, I am undecided about how I feel about Junie B. Jones.

So funny!

She's an icon, she's a legend

This was the first Junie B. Jones that my daughter and I read. We found it quite amusing and a great introduction to Junie B. (We must have as we have read quite a few more of the series.)

I would recommend this as the best first book to the Junie B. Jones series as it gives the reader a great perspective on who Junie B. is (and isn't) and how the books will go.

And while Junie B. disliked the bus, this book only excited my daughter about riding the bus!

Another book read with Harper. First time reading Junie B Jones and  it was so cute!

Man, Junie B. makes me tired. I really hope that I never have a kid like her. Is that a terrible thing to say? But she was pretty fun to read about, and I can really see her appealing to young readers.

Normally I don’t log the books I read with my class but this was a chapter book. And it’s a classic. Had to do it!

I do not understand why so many people like this series. I feel like excessive use of words like stupid and smelly at this age is the same as excessive use of profanity in adult books. Authors use those words to sensationalize or when they lack something to say. I love the Ramona series for trying to describe a fiesty girl.
