Junie B. Jones is an icon and I want to be her when I grow up.
It was kind of funny and I guess most kids would love the chaos. Reminded me of Ramona the Pest, but simpler. I'm surprised the series is so popular though given the babyish-ness of the narrative voice; I would've thought that would be a turnoff to kids old enough to be getting into chapter books.
Oh how I wish I had known about this book when my granddaughter started kindergarten. I definitely will remember it when my littlest granddaughter gets there. Junie B. Jones looks like a wonderful series to read with children of her age.
My fifth grade daughter breezes through these, the only tthing slowing her down is having them already checked out at the library. Very easy reader and thin. Good for getting over the fear of reading a full novel.
Very cute and funny. The language Junie B. uses captures Kindergarten very well.
I've been familiar with Junie B. for a long, long time; however, this is actually the first time I read any of the books. And actually, I didn't read all of this book—my granddaughter read some of it to me! That made the experience even more wonderful! Junie B. is such a great character and the humor in this book just pulls kids in. I love hearing a child giggle when they are reading and connecting with a book. After reading this one together (which was actually a reread for her), my granddaughter and I went to the book store to stock up on a few more in the series.
So I finally read a Junie B. Jones book and loved it! I feel like Junie B.'s voice is authentic and her antics are hilarious. The usage of "improper" grammar doesn't bother me as much as her saying lots of mean things about others. That being said, there could be good conversation around why it's not nice to use words like "dumb" and "hate" with your child. I can see why kids devour this series...it totally brought back all the feelings I had on my very first day of school and that was almost three decades ago! Junie B. is very relatable and entertaining!
Junie B (don’t forget the B!) is a spunky little six year old. She reminds me so much of every six year old I’ve ever known 😂. She may not be the best behaved little girl, but she definitely learns some lessons along the way and opens up a number of behavior-conversations that parents could have with their kiddos.
