2024 - Year of The Bat (366 Days of Batman)

Day 127: The artwork and the “futuristic” language are a bit of a turnoff and make this one hard to follow. But it is only four issues so I’ll stick with it.

Great addition to the Batman canon. Really cool illustrations, solid plot, and interesting concepts of a future Batman.

Only thing I didn't like was the facial art. Fantastic story!

Batman looks weird. And the story was a bit too confusing. I liked the idea but it wasn't told that well.

Best Batman arc I've read since Miller.

Fantastic. An all time great Batman story. The art is incredible, there is a healthy dose of detective work, the story is compelling and non-stop action. Yes, this strays greatly from the traditional Batman mythos and adds a few dashes of sci-fi, but hasn't Batman always been a sci-fi story anyway? I definitely recommend this for mature readers of Batman who enjoy stories that dip outside of the ordinary. If you want traditional Batman, go with Jeph Loeb. Read this if you want something new and exciting.

An excellent standalone Batman tale set in a grim, dark future masterfully rendered by Paul Pope's loose, energetic art (with perfect colors by Jose Villarrubia).

due to various recommandations and reviews i had very high expectations of this book, and it did not fullfill them. the story is decent, but i was not a fan of the art. it was to scratchy for me and some of the characters were hard to tell apart. all on all this is a 2.5 star book.

This is the first Paul Pope comic I have read. At first I was unsure if I would like his drawing style, but by half way through I was totally engulfed by the story and amazed by the art.. and judging by the extra comic in the back, I would say the colorist (Jose Villarrubia) had a lot to do with creating the dark, gritty (yet action-packed) atmosphere that is the future. Overall it was a classic detective story, that happens to take place in the future, with a badass Rambo-style (Frank Millerish) Batman.. with fangs! oh yeah, did I mention the fangs? awesome.
