A tense play. All the characters have great depth, especially Hamlet and his spiral into madness.
yes this made me like hamnet more. i wish i had read it first a little bit, but i don’t think it matters too much.
so many iconic shakespeare lines come from this??? of course i knew “to be or not to be”, like duh,, but “the lady doth protest too much” ??? didn’t know that was hamlet!! “brevity is the soul of wit” ??? same thing! i’ve been quoting hamlet this whole time????

Read first in high school, then reread this year. One of my absolute favorite Shakespeare plays. Just so much to love! How can you not love Hamlet?
I love the plot. Most of the humor is right up my alley, but when you are are not used to Shakespearean English, this proves to be a difficult and extensive read. Most definitely worth it, however.
