The wishy washy ending took away .25 stars. Loved the rest of the book.
As a mother, I would love to give this book 4.5 stars. I think it was a little slow at first, but Liane Moriarty does a wonderful job speaking to your “mom heart.” Such a beautiful, heart warming story.

I found that as the story went on, I was more and more eager to pick up the book and read. I think Moriarty does a fantastic job of pacing in this story, and the characters felt real to me. I was worried, after reading the description of the book, that it was going to be really predictable with a sappy ending, but Moriarty makes the reader feel as busy, confused, scared, angry, and proud as Alice does, and the mystery of her lost memories, and how she connects to the people in her life keep you reading.
I also found that the book had me thinking about myself and how I've changed over the last 10 years, my friendships that have changed, romantic relationships that have evolved, my interests, my physical appearance, etc. It even made me really think about the ways in which my life would change if I were to have children. I didn't think a simple fiction novel could do that.

I need more books like this!!!! Really tugged at my heart strings. It felt like a worst-case scenario I never could have dreamed of to one day be living as a happy newly-wed with a baby on the way, to next day being a hardened 39 year old gym rat embroiled in a custody battle over three kids with an embittered spouse that has apparently grown to hate you over the past ten years that you don’t remember?

Occasionally a little too close to home about the nature of marriage after children and change, this audiobook was quite well read, and the story was entertaining.
The narrative jumps occasionally to Alice's sister, Elizabeth, who is undergoing therapy, and her grandmother, who is living in a retirement community and writing a blog about herself and her family. To me, these devices were clumsy ways to further the plot, and the main Alice storyline actually stood well on its own without them. I might actually skip them if I were reading the book rather than listening.
Overall I was happy with the conclusion of the book, as it fit the narrative and idea of how people change over time but their underlying self can remain the same. But I would dearly love to know if they managed to get into the Guiness Book of Records!
