Enjoyed this book! I liked having the focus on the main character for a change, and found it very interesting trying to piece the story back together with the protagonist. Makes me afraid to be a mother!

What exactly did Alice forget?
What Alice forgot was the last ten years of her life when she hit her noggin at the gym. A leap from twenty-nine to thirty-nine. Can you imagine?! I had to imagine extra hard because I'm only thirty, but I could imagine it all well enough. I could relate to life pre-children and post-children (They seemed unable to sit still. They were sliding off their chairs, constantly knocking cutlery onto th efloor, and talking in high-pitched voices over the top of one another. It wasn't exactly relaxing. Oh yes - haha!). I could relate to married life and the changes in a relationship over (just about) a decade.

I enjoy very little "chick-lit" (maybe because I haven't given it a real chance since 2003) and wouldn't necessarily consider these types of books to be up my alley. And yet I can't help but adore this book for exactly what it is:

description

I love that Moriarty really understands women. I love that the characters act like real women. I love that there were multiple points of view/stories that reflected different struggles women deal with. I love that it made me want to cuddle my children a little longer and give a few extra kisses and thank yous to my husband.

I love that I can gush shamelessly about chick-lit and give it 5 dang stars without batting an eye.

I seem to be into amnesia books lately. While this was a fun read, I've enjoyed her other books more. The ending was a little too pat for me, and it was hard to understand what was likable about Alice in the present day. But Liane Moriarty is always a good read.

I absolutely loved this book and the cast of characters. Alice hits her head at the local gym and when she wakes up she is very confused. She remembers waking up that morning happily married, close to her family, and newly pregnant. Instead it is 10 years later and she isn't as close to her family as before, has three children, and is going through a divorce. She spends the next days trying to remember who she is but having the memories of her younger and kinder self. I loved her whole family and the new Alice. When it ended it, I was left with wanting more from them all. I highly recommend.

Writing and story was ok, it definitely could have been much shorter!
Boring most of the time, didn’t keep me wanting more just wanted it to be over. Fell asleep at times...

I read this book for my personal 52 Book Challenge 2023 under the category “Set in Sydney”. Special mention to my amazing mother in law Annalie who was kind enough to recommend it to me!

I loved this book so much, it was a beautiful read and reflection on how ever changing the world is and how our stressors and life experiences can often change us.
The balance between the growth/change we experience through life and its adversities and making efforts to connect to our younger selves and their innocent wisdom and dreams is something I think about a lot.

I loved both Alice and her sisters storyline, they were both very captivating and written in a beautiful and detailed way that allowed me to feel connected to both of them. Elizabeth’s depression and lack of hope was written so remarkably. I also loved the ending, Alice’s reflections on love and Elizabeth’s happy ending which I was really rooting for.

The only reason I am giving this book 4 stars is because I didn’t like Frannie’s storyline/letters.. I would be so enthralled by the other narrators that when a Frannie chapter came on I would get upset and it would derrail my attention.
